Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ludwig Manres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Melvin Gustin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manres's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Aqualung - Jethro Tull. Ludwig Manres has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 39 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Ludwig Manres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Melvin Gustin!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gustin gets caught napping as Manres dives in and scores a takedown. Gustin manages to retain guard.
Manres stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gustin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Manres postures up in Gustin's guard and throws a big left but Gustin blocks it.
Manres trying to control the position from guard on top but Gustin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Manres tries to free his leg and advance position but Gustin is retaining full guard.
Manres has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Gustin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Manres throws a big right hand that misses.
Gustin looking for a sweep. Not yet Gustin, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gustin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Manres cracks Gustin with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Manres works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Manres wants to pass to mount but Gustin is defending the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Manres accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Manres wants to control from the top but Gustin keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Manres pushes down on Gustin's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Manres sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Manres throws an elbow that misses. Gustin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Manres's guard. Nice move by Gustin!

We've been hearing good reports from Manres's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Manres is trying to control the position but Gustin postures up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gustin is continuing to stall.
Manres wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Manres tries to close the distance and clinch but Gustin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Manres darts in looking for a takedown but Gustin gets double underhooks and turns Manres into the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gustin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Manres.
Gustin throws a head kick that misses.
An inside leg kick lands from Gustin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ludwig Manres will probably get the nod.
That's time! Manres's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Gustin moves in looking to clinch but Manres pushes him off.
A combination from Gustin does no damage.
No luck for Manres with that takedown attempt.
Manres sets himself, and Gustin steps forward looking for the clinch! Manres avoids it this time.
Manres shoots for a takedown but Gustin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Manres shoots for a double leg takedown but Gustin sprawls well. He's pushed Manres's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ludwig Manres. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Manres sets himself, and Gustin steps forward looking for the clinch! Manres avoids it this time.

Manres is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gustin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gustin has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Fight Factory. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Gustin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gustin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Let's hope that Gustin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Manres changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gustin fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Manres lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Manres is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Melvin Gustin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Gustin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Manres blocks a head kick by Gustin.
Gustin throws a right hand that Manres ducks under and follows up with a left that Manres also avoids with ease.
Manres half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Gustin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Manres. Manres circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Manres gets tackled into the cage by Gustin. Gustin maintains the clinch.

Gustin throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Gustin throws a hook but Manres blocks it.
Manres changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Manres fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gustin avoids it really well and circles away.
Manres has a takedown stuffed.

Gustin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gustin closes the distance but Manres moves to the side
and Manres counters with a series of strikes. Gustin will be more careful next time no doubt.
A head kick from Gustin lands but Manres takes it in his stride.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gustin goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


Manres is rocked!
Manres shoots in for a takedown but Gustin shows good takedown defense.
Oh Manres is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ludwig Manres is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gustin pushes Manres up against the cage in a clinch.
Gustin creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Manres with a big uppercut! Manres tries to clinch up but Gustin pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Manres to the mat! Manres covers up and Gustin unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Melvin Gustin!
After winning the bout, Melvin Gustin thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
