Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Francisco Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Major!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar looks for a takedown but Major sprawls well.
Escobar moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Escobar takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Major tries to keep at a distance but Escobar has taken the fight into the clinch.
Major doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A head punch on the inside from Major fails to land.
Major is working Escobar over against the cage.
Major lands a hook that snaps the head of Escobar backwards.
Escobar misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Major.
Major has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
I was talking to Escobar's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Escobar takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Escobar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Major swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Escobar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Major can do anything to dispel that myth.

Escobar drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Escobar jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Escobar is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Escobar has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Major defend it? Escobar steps over the head and cranks it - Major is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Escobar!
