The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodrigo moves into range and clinches up with Homes.
Homes can't break the clinch.
Homes pulls guard.
Homes keeping moving, preventing Rodrigo from controlling successfully.
Rodrigo passes Homes's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Homes can do anything to dispel that myth.
Homes has his hands clasped together around Rodrigo's back. He's all about the action.
Homes trying to hold on to Rodrigo's head to control him but Rodrigo postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodrigo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Homes is just riding it out for now. Rodrigo eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodrigo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Homes sees it coming and defends easily.
Homes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodrigo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Homes pulls Rodrigo in close to his closed guard and prevents Rodrigo from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rodrigo attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Rodrigo shoots in for a double leg but Homes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Homes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rodrigo napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Rodrigo gets back to half guard.
Rodrigo is breathing heavily.
Homes winds up and cracks Rodrigo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Rodrigo tries to roll over but Homes keeps him under control.
Rodrigo manages to get to full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Homes's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Homes with a nice head shot there.
Homes postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Rodrigo is rocked!

Oh Rodrigo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Homes lands a couple of elbows.

Homes cracks Rodrigo with a solid left hand.
Homes arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Rodrigo's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
