Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Krom Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Krom Kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Oscar Powell!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong throws the kick towards the body but Powell avoids it.
Kong sets himself, and Powell steps forward looking for the clinch! Kong avoids it this time.
We've been told by Kong's head coaches at 3Band MMA ($500/week) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Powell stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kong.
Kong turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Krom Kong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powell fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And Kong counters with a quick kick to the body but Powell blocks it.

Powell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kong's guard.
Kong wants to stand up but Powell is controlling him.
Kong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Powell on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kong throws out a leg kick but Powell moves out of range and Kong only half commits.

Kong misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kong thuds his right hand into Powell's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Powell takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Krom Kong is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kong lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Krom Kong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oscar Powell.
Powell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kong pinned against the cage. Kong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kong lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Powell sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Kong is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Powell can do to turn this around?

Kong bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Powell shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kong napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Powell takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Good leg kick by Kong there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Powell's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Kong misses with a series of wild punches.

and Kong counters with a left and a right that stings Powell.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kong.

Powell tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

and Kong counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Kong goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kong lands with a nice combination. Powell backs away looking to recover.

Powell is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Powell has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kong finds it's way round the side to connect with Powell's head.

Powell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kong but Kong pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Powell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Powell moves into the clinch.
Powell goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Kong looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Kong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Powell misses with a body shot.
Kong scoring well with a low kick there.
Powell misses with a looping right.
Powell takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kong lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Powell fails to land with a series of punches.
Powell on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Powell swings widly with a right hand
and Kong counters with a leg kick.
Kong throws the kick towards the body but Powell avoids it.
Powell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kong sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Powell somewhat.
Powell takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Krom Kong showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kong, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
