These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopkins shoots in for a double leg but Schmidt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hopkins looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Schmidt!
Schmidt manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Hopkins trying to hold on to Schmidt's head to control him but Schmidt postures up.
Schmidt is looking for a kimura but Hopkins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Schmidt to get the leverage.
Schmidt is nestled in close to Hopkins, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Schmidt lands a big elbow - Hopkins is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Schmidt!
