The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez dives in for a single leg takedown but Walsh sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A jab from Gomez misses.
Walsh shoots in for a double leg but Gomez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Walsh gets tackled into the cage by Gomez. Gomez maintains the clinch.

Gomez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Walsh moves away.

Austin Walsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walsh will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Walsh uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gomez.
Walsh wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Gomez has managed to clinch.
Gomez tries a body shot but Walsh blocks it.
Walsh is pushing Gomez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Walsh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gomez's waist but Gomez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Walsh off to one side.
