PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikey Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sajin Komamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Komamura has chosen Killing In The Name as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikey Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sajin Komamura!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Komamura shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Komamura showed some decent athleticism there.
Komamura thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Komamura wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walsh keeps working.
Komamura wants to stand up but Walsh is controlling the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Komamura lands a nice short elbow.

Walsh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Komamura swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Walsh is fighting to break Komamura's control of his arms but Komamura is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Walsh shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Komamura manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Walsh manages to work his way to half guard, despite Komamura's best efforts.

Sajin Komamura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Komamura goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Walsh has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Komamura but great work by Walsh.
