PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Urai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonardo Florentino Ernesto Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urai comes to the cage accompanied by Sever the Wicked. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 24 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo Florentino Ernesto Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A little feinted left hand from Urai on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Alvarez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Urai.
Alvarez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Urai tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Urai is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Urai will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Alvarez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Urai sprawls well initially but Alvarez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Alvarez stalling away here and it's allowed Urai to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Alvarez is stalling here. Urai is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Alvarez seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Urai has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Alvarez is sitting in close to Urai's body. Urai has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Alvarez is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Alvarez is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Urai.
