The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fernedez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. England sprawls well initially but Fernedez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

England escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fernedez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fernedez in particular looking to stall.

Fernedez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
England wants to get back to full guard.
England could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Fernedez tries to land a leg kick but England saw it coming and moves away.

England avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

England is fighting off a takedown attempt but Fernedez is just too persistent for him and manages to trip England to the mat. England regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Fernedez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and England is now in Fernedez's guard. A big mistake from Fernedez there, giving up the dominant position!
