Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Willian Robles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Klaus Vandari!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Robles rushes Vandari and presses him up against the cage.
Robles prevents a takedown attempt there.
Vandari has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Robles is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Robles gets a trip takedown into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Vandari trying to control but Robles postures up.
Robles is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Robles is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Robles takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Robles is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Robles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Robles shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Robles wants to get up but he can't break Vandari's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Robles got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vandari has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Robles has managed to get both his arms back between Vandari's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Robles not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Robles decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Robles has closed the distance and engaged Vandari in a clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Vandari has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Robles for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Robles takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Vandari is fighting off a takedown attempt but Robles is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Vandari to the mat. Vandari regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Robles has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Vandari escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Robles gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Robles shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vandari pinned against the cage. Vandari gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Vandari tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Robles swivels and escapes.

Vandari is breathing heavily.

Robles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Willian Robles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klaus Vandari.

Robles looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vandari with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Robles is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vandari doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Robles.
Robles lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Robles tries to stand but can't do so whilst Vandari controls his leg.

Robles has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Vandari is trying to keep an underhook but Robles manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Well, if Robles is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Vandari had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Robles defends it easily.

Robles stands up and waves to Vandari to follow him.
Vandari slaps away a takedown attempt from Robles, before circling back to the center of the mat.
