A fine choice. Carney Duffy could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Salosen Mara's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duffy throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Duffy throws a right and a left that both miss.
Duffy takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Mara jabs Duffy to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Duffy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Duffy takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Duffy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Mara counters with a good low kick that Duffy was not able to check.
Duffy throws a jab when Mara was well out of range.

Mara fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Duffy has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Mara connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

and Mara counters with a straight right hand.

Duffy lands with an uppercut that bounces Mara off the cage and back into range.
Duffy moves out of range as Mara throws a body kick.
Duffy feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Maras jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Mara fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Duffy.

Duffy fires out a quick counter leg kick but Mara just manages to avoid it.

Mara scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Duffy pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Duffy throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Duffy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mara takes a swing at Duffy's ribcage but misses.
Duffy throws a leg kick but Mara moved away.
Duffy sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Mara cracks Duffy with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Duffy keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mara tests Duffy's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mara pushes Duffy away with a front kick.
Duffy bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Duffy is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Mara steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Duffy. That one must have hurt.
Mara is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Duffy had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Mara motions for Duffy to come forward. Mara throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Mara tries to land a leg kick but Duffy saw it coming and moves away.
Duffy takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Mara misses with a looping right.

Mara throws a shot from downtown. Duffy moves away and avoids it.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Mara counters with a series of strikes. Duffy will be more careful next time no doubt.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Duffy.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mara connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Mara. Duffy shrugs it off though.
Duffy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Duffy takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Oh Duffy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mara.
Duffy walks straight into a right hand from Mara - that's dropped him! Mara jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Duffy from any more punishment! Duffy complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

After winning the bout, Salosen Mara thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
