PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Holger The Dane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Holger The Dane!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Dean Styles and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gonzalez takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gonzalez lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and The Dane has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from The Dane and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Gonzalez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Gonzalez counters with a nice double leg into side control. The Dane won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gonzalez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Gonzalez creates some space and throws a big elbow, but The Dane sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The Dane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gonzalez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The Dane is looking to reverse the position.

Gonzalez is trying to get an arm triangle but The Dane is defending well.

Gonzalez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Gonzalez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by The Dane, who protects the arm well.

The Dane manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Gonzalez frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Gonzalez connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if The Dane can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The Dane wants to hold on but Gonzalez pushes him away.

The Dane felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Gonzalez lands strikes to the head.

Gonzalez is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! The Dane is tapping out! This one is all over!
