The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A thudding body kick lands there by James!
Barnard misses the shot to the body.
James changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

and James counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by James.
James misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Barnard.
James fails to pull the fight into his guard.

James breaks the clinch.
Barnard swats away the attempt to clinch by James.
James wants to clinch up but Barnard keeps it at a distance.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Barnard sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Barnard throws a counter combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barnard swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Barnard lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

It looks like Kevin James has been cut.

James tries to close the distance and clinch but Barnard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
James is looking to slow Barnard down with leg kicks.

James lands a big head kick that sends Barnard tumbling to the mat! James takes a step backwards and waves Barnard back to his feet - he wants the finish!
