PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Freitag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Mouwanga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Freitag might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Limp Bizkit - Break stuff. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mouwanga just misses with a punch to the body.
Freitag misses with a leg kick.
Mouwanga's coach down at BLOODSPORT GYM was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mouwanga's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Freitag scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sloppy strikes from Mouwanga. Those never looked like landing.
Mouwanga throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Mouwanga throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Freitag.

It looks like Mike Freitag has been cut.
Freitag throws a right and a left that Mouwanga avoids nicely.
A head kick by Mouwanga misses
and Freitag cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Freitag shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mouwanga manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Freitag working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mouwanga's head.
Mouwanga is pulling down on Freitag's head to control his posture.

Mouwanga wants to stand and escape but Freitag is having none of it.

Freitag looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Freitag throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Mouwanga manages to escape and get back to his feet!

and Freitag counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Freitag throws a front kick aimed at Mouwanga's knee but Mouwanga avoids it well.

Freitag cracks Mouwanga with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Mouwanga fails to land with a series of punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Freitag dives in and grabs Mouwanga's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mouwanga pushes down on Freitag's head and hops out.

Mouwanga stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mouwanga wants it to stay on the feet.

Mouwanga tries to close the distance and clinch up but Freitag swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mouwanga ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Freitag moves away.
Freitag went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Freitag jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Freitag keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Mouwanga is rocked!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mouwanga is still on wobbly legs! Can Freitag finish him?

Freitag gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Freitag is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Mouwanga is hurt! He's hurt bad - Freitag fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Mouwanga from any more punishment! Congratulations to Freitag! Great finish!

Mike Freitag tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
