Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diesel Armstrong and Dan Howson. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 wins, 6 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of New York, Diesel Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 wins, 5 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Howson!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong feints a jab promting Howson to slip. Armstrong then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Howson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Howson scores with a body shot.
Armstrong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A little jabbing left from Howson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Armstrong instigates a clinch.
Howson misses with a shot to the kidneys.
I was talking to Armstrong's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Howson avoids a wild elbow strike from Armstrong.
Howson struggles to land a body shot inside as Armstrong controls his hands.
Armstrong misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Howson.
Armstrong is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Howson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Howson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Howson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Still in the clinch, Howson scores with a nice short uppercut.
Howson lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Armstrong backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Howson struggles to land a body shot inside as Armstrong controls his hands.
Armstrong throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Armstrong blocks an uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Howson breaks from the clinch.
Armstrong throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Armstrong shoots and misses
and Howson counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Armstrong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Howson circles away quickly and effectively.

Armstrong drives through and clinches with Howson against the cage.
Howson is working Armstrong over against the cage.
Howson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Howson lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Howson lands a hook to the side of the head.
Howson tries a body shot but Armstrong blocks it.

Armstrong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Armstrong gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Armstrong takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Armstrong throws an off balance right hand
and Howson counters with a left to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Howson throws a body shot but no joy.
Howson lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Armstrong crumples to the floor! Howson milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Dan Howson!
Our winner, Dan Howson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
