PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerhard Vettl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane One Punch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). One Punch comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Rocky balboa theme kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane One Punch!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
One Punch darts in looking for a takedown but Vettl gets double underhooks and turns One Punch into the ropes.
Vettl takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Vettl feints a jab promting One Punch to slip. Vettl then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. One Punch slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Shane One Punch has been cut.

One Punch gets a double leg takedown into Vettl's guard.
One Punch must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

One Punch is looking to work some ground and pound but Vettl has wrist control.

Vettl has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but One Punch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
One Punch working over Vettl with some ground and pound. Vettl looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
One Punch is taking a breather. Vettl says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Vettl tries to roll over but One Punch keeps him under control.
Vettl wants to control but One Punch is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Vettl closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


It looks like Gerhard Vettl has been cut.
Vettl changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. One Punch tries to avoid it but Vettl manages to keep hold of a leg and drag One Punch to the ground. One Punch escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Good exchange - One Punch coming out on top.
One Punch takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
One Punch stuffs the takedown attempt from Vettl. Vettl gets slowly back to his feet.

Vettl fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and One Punch has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

One Punch perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's time! Vettl's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

One Punch might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
