Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thanh Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thanh Fox has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thanh Fox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Stone!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fox throws a leg kick

and Stone decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fox's guard.
Fox is controlling Stone's posture.
Stone content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Stone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Fox is trying to control the position but Stone postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stone slips nicely into half guard.
Stone controlling the action here.

Fox tries to roll over but Stone keeps him under control.
Stone content to control rather than advance.
Stone tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fox knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Stone looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stone is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Stone prevents Fox from standing back up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Stone drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stone lands some shots froms side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fox is letting Stone control him for a moment.
Stone tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Stone looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Stone landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Stone is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Fox's shoulder. That is not cool.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stone working the head with strikes.
Stone connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Fox some visible discomfort.
Stone has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here.
Stone's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Fox wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fox has his takedown stuffed

and Stone holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Fox is trying to break the clinch but Stone is controlling him.
Stone throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Stone lands a takedown into guard.
Stone slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Stone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fox is trying to get back to his feet.

Stone is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Stone has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Stone fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Stone controlling the position easily from mount.
Stone is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Stone putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Stone content just to control the position here.
Fox is trying desperately to improve position.

Stone has hold of Fox's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Fox manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stone looking to control and managing it successfully.
Stone lands with some strikes.
Stone controlling the pace for now.
Let's hope that Stone has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Stone jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Fox is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Fox and Stone has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Fox could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Stone lands a few punches from side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

John Stone has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fox being controlled for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Stone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Fox's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Stone throws a low kick, looking for Fox's leg but Fox calmly moves out of range.
Thanh Fox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fox shoots in for a takedown but Stone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Stone has Fox up against the cage in a clinch.

Fox manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Stone is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Stone.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone is continuing to stall.
Stone wants to stand but Fox has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Stone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Fox has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stone can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Stone throws a sloppy head kick and Fox moves out of range easily.
Fox is looking for a counter combo.

Stone closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Stone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Stone changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fox looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Stone has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Stone content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Stone is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Fox looks calm but he's in trouble here. Stone gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Fox is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Stone lets go of the hold and Fox can pop his arm back in it's socket.
