PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Gruzinsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gruzinsky has chosen Россия as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jiu Jitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roman Gruzinsky!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gruzinsky throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jitsu on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gruzinsky. Gruzinsky obviously looking to wear him down.
Jitsu darts in looking for a takedown but Gruzinsky gets double underhooks and turns Jitsu into the cage.
Jitsu tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gruzinsky defends well and Jitsu ends up having to push Gruzinsky into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gruzinsky thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gruzinsky dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jitsu. That did some damage!
Gruzinsky has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Gruzinsky throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Jitsu counters with a takedown into side control.

Jitsu tries for a kimura but Gruzinsky is defending well.

Jitsu goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gruzinsky has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jitsu but great work by Gruzinsky.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gruzinsky moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Gruzinsky has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Gruzinsky swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jitsu.
Gruzinsky throws a hook but Jitsu blocks it.
Roman Gruzinsky is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gruzinsky throws a push kick but Jitsu slaps the foot to one side.
Gruzinsky swats away the attempt to clinch by Jitsu.
Jitsu moves out of range as Gruzinsky throws a body kick.
Jitsu checks a low kick from Gruzinsky.
Jitsu seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Jitsu displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gruzinsky throws out the jab.
Jitsu shoots in for a takedown but Gruzinsky shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A nice side step and Gruzinsky releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jiu Jitsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jitsu looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Gruzinsky has one foot on Jitsu's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gruzinsky fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jitsu looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gruzinsky tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jitsu is able to avoid easily.
Jitsu moves out of range of the body kick from Gruzinsky.
Jitsu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gruzinsky tries to avoid it but Jitsu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gruzinsky to the ground. Gruzinsky escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jitsu doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gruzinsky counters with a stiff right hand.
Gruzinsky misses with an attempted mid kick.
Jitsu appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Jitsu misses with a takedown attempt - Gruzinsky sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gruzinsky flicks out a counter leg kick but Jitsu steps away.
Jitsu blocks a head kick by Gruzinsky.
Jitsu uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gruzinsky.
Jitsu avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jitsu feinted with a counter takedown.
Gruzinsky throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gruzinsky throws an overhand right that lands on Jitsu's shoulder, as Jitsu tries to avoid the shot.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jitsu.

Jitsu takes the fight into the clinch.
Gruzinsky goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Gruzinsky scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Gruzinsky lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Jitsu is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Gruzinsky is defending well.
Gruzinsky scores with a shot to the side of Jitsu's head.
Gruzinsky misses with a short punch on the inside.
Gruzinsky lands a hook to the side of the head.
Gruzinsky lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jitsu backwards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jitsu has picked Gruzinsky up - he's going for a ride! Jitsu dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Jitsu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jitsu is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gruzinsky is looking to improve his position.

That's time! Jitsu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Gruzinsky goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Gruzinsky clobbers Jitsu with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Gruzinsky throws a right hand that Jitsu ducks under and follows up with a left that Jitsu also avoids with ease.
Gruzinsky throws a body shot but no joy.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gruzinsky enables Jitsu to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gruzinsky manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Gruzinsky pushes Jitsu off and gets back to his feet.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jitsu checks a leg kick.
Gruzinsky lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jitsu shoots in for a takedown but Gruzinsky shows good takedown defense.
Gruzinsky tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jitsu was well out of range. Poor timing from Gruzinsky.

Jitsu shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Gruzinsky connects with a leg kick. Jitsu looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Jitsu tries to counter by clinching up but Gruzinsky breaks away and moves out of range.
Jitsu shoots in but Gruzinsky avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Gruzinsky stuns Jitsu with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Roman Gruzinsky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jitsu shoots in and bounces Gruzinsky off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Well Gruzinsky has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
