PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Head Coach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott has chosen Wildboy as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 2, fighting out of London, Head Coach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 40 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Maximus Scott!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Scott does it's job there.
Coach takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Coach definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Scott gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Scott misses with a right hand
and Scott takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Coach has Scott up against the cage in a clinch.
Scott wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Scott working hard to break the clinch.
Scott is looking to break free of the clinch but Coach has double underhooks.
Scott takes an elbow to the temple.


It looks like Maximus Scott has been cut.
Scott tries to circle away but Coach has him pinned against the cage.
Scott's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Scott is trying to break the clinch but Coach has him pressed against the cage.
A short uppercut from Coach.
Coach lands a nice elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Coach landing knees to the body.
Scott looks winded!

A left hand lands to the body for Coach.
Coach lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Scott backwards.

Coach turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Scott managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Coach.
Coach postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Coach tries to advance to mount but Scott denies him.

Coach is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Scott has escaped the position, nice work there.

Coach is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Scott knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Coach controlling the position.

Scott wants to get back to his feet but Coach drags him back down.
Coach is putting a hurting on Scott here, landing some big shots from side control.
Coach remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Scott can't do much from the bottom here.

Scott is letting Coach control him for a moment.
Coach seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Scott for as long as he can get away with.
Scott is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Scott throws a poor cross that misses
and Coach counters with a straight right hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Scott throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Coach throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Scott tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Coach is in Scott's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Coach is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Coach throws a big elbow that misses.
Coach trying to control but Scott is working from the bottom.
Coach has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Coach sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Scott's guard.
Coach passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Scott!
Scott squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Coach there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Maximus Scott's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Coach scores with a one two! Scott had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


That has opened up Maximus Scott's cut even more.
Coach shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scott pinned against the cage. Scott gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Coach scores with a nice head shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Scott misses the target.
Coach connects with a nice looking jab.
Coach lands a jab to the head.
Coach displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Scott throws out the jab.
Coach is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Scott can do to turn this around?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coach throws a right and a left that both miss.
Scott walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Scott throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Coach counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Scott misses with a left hand
and Coach counters with a nice low kick that buckles Scott's knee momentarily.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Coach - that will leave a mark!

Scott thows a left - swing and a miss!
Scott moves in looking to clinch but Coach pushes him off.
Scott swings widly with a right hand
and Coach cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Coach has managed to clinch.
Coach tries a knee to the head but Scott blocks it.
Coach lands a damaging elbow.
Scott stalling.
Coach lands a body shot in the clinch.
Coach pressing his opponent against the cage.
Coach just leaning against Scott, taking a breather.
Scott scores with a shot to the side of Coach's head.
Scott wants to get back to striking at distance but Coach won't allow it.

Scott is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Scott is trying to break the clinch but Coach has him pressed against the cage.
Coach lands a shoulder strike.


The cut above Maximus Scott's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Coach presses Scott against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Coach landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Scott is breathing heavily.
Coach prevents Scott from breaking the clinch.
A short right from Coach.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Scott wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Come on Coach - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Coach cracks Scott with a nice body shot.

Coach has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Scott regains guard immediately.

Scott wants to get back to his feet but Coach is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Coach keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Scott's head.

Coach wants to control the pace but Scott is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coach throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Head Coach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Coach landing strikes, looking to finish!
Coach lands a big elbow.
Coach content just to control the position here.

Coach looking for a guillotine from mount but Scott is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Head Coach dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Maximus Scott's cut.
That's time! Coach's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Scott takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Scott wants to clinch.
Scott misses with a looping left.
Scott throws out a loose jab but Coach uses good head movement to avoid it.
Scott misses with a hook.

Coach drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Scott bucks up and tries to throw Coach off but instead Coach has got his back!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Coach controlling the positon.
Scott prevents Coach from getting a body triangle.
Coach biding his time, controlling Scott.
Coach throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Scott wants to get back to his feet.

Coach is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Scott is defending well though. Coach let's go of the attempt for now.

Coach working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Coach has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Scott has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The referee is taking a good look at Scott as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Coach!

Maximus Scott has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Coach lands a shot to the body.
Scott wants to get back to his feet.

Coach is persistently looking for the submission but Scott is defending it well.
Coach tries to get the hooks in deep but Scott pushed the leg off.
Head Coach is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Scott covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Coach loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Scott hold on?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Coach trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Scott doesn't escape.
Scott is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Head Coach showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Coach has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
