PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight kickboxing rules bout between Ben Bryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Pavlinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pavlinov is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Limp Bizkit - Break Stuff. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Pavlinov!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pavlinov looks to land a left hand but Bryan moved out of range nicely.
Bryan gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Dean Pavlinov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pavlinov lands a nice looking body kick.
Bryan fails to land with a series of punches.
Pavlinov misses with the body kick
letting Bryan counter with a right hand.
Pavlinov throws a hook but Bryan blocks it.
Bryan blocks a head kick by Pavlinov.
An attempted straight right counter from Bryan misses the target.
Bryan looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Bryan tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Bryan takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Bryan drops his hands momentarily and Pavlinov takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Bryan moves out of range of the body kick.
It looked like Bryan was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Pavlinov.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pavlinov missing with a left hand there. Bryan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Pavlinov bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Pavlinov goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
No joy there for Pavlinov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pavlinov turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pavlinov throws a lazy right hand but Bryan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bryan walks into a straight right hand from Pavlinov.
Pavlinov looks for the body kick but Bryan saw that one coming.
An attempted straight right counter from Bryan misses the target.
Pavlinov has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Pavlinov lands a head kick that bluckles Bryan and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Pavlinov no doubt looking to push for a finish!

Bryan is rocked!
Bryan scores with a sloppy right hand. Pavlinov should have avoided that one.
Oh Bryan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Crunch! Pavlinov slams his shin into Bryan 's torso.
Bryan seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pavlinov throws a switch kick that catches Bryan on the top of the head and drops him to the canvas! Bryan looks hurt - I'm not sure he's going to get back up! The referee starts the count but calls it off at seven as Bryan flops around on the canvas, clearly in no position to continue! This fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Dean Pavlinov!
In his post fight interview, Dean Pavlinov started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
