Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Ure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phil Ure has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Phil Ure!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Smith!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Ure shows good takedown defense.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Ure tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ure manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Smith closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ure quickly recovers to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ure does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Smith uses his free foot to push down on Ure's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ure.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee warns Ure that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Smith throws a sloppy strike and Ure uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Ure has ended up in Smith's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith throwing short punches from the bottom.
Smith looking for a sweep. Not yet Smith, not yet.

Ure drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ure jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith is trying to control the position but Ure postures up.
Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ure could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Ure is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ure has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Smith to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ure is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Smith pulls down on the head and he's put Ure to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jack Smith!
A very excited looking Jack Smith rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
