And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Justin Lichfield!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lichfield drives through with a takedown into guard.
Belval avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lichfield is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lichfield drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lichfield jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lichfield forces his way into half guard.
Belval on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Belval tries to get out of the position.

Lichfield wants to work for an arm triangle but Belval is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Belval wants to stand back up but Lichfield manages to pass into side control.

Lichfield looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Belval has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Lichfield in side control, throwing shots but Belval defends.

Lichfield wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Belval, who protects the arm well.

Lichfield is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Belval knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Lichfield has hold of Belval's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Belval tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lichfield cranks the arm and Belval screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Belval, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Justin Lichfield!
In his post fight interview, Justin Lichfield started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
