PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vic Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone comes to the cage accompanied by George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronald Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Alyssa Summers and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Griffin somewhat.
Stone feints and then cracks Griffin's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Griffin down.
Griffin has a takedown stuffed.
Stone misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Griffin.

Stone clinches up against the cage.
Griffin can't break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Griffin tries to break free but Stone pushes him back against the cage.
Griffin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Stone gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Vic Stone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ronald Griffin.

Griffin tries to score a body lock takedown but Stone shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Griffin manages to pull guard.

Stone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Griffin is aware though and is defending well.

Griffin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stone doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Griffin.

Griffin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Griffin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Griffin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Griffin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stone sees it coming and defends easily.

Stone is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at 5 Star Spar Bazaar, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Stone is not content to let Griffin control the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Griffin has gone for a leg lock! Stone slips out almost immediately though and dives into Griffin's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Griffin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stone wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving.
Griffin wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ronald Griffin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Stone gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Griffin counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Griffin wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.
Griffin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin seems to be working for a kimura but Stone defends the submission attempt.
Stone is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Griffin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Griffin's back!

Griffin stands up over Stone, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stone is on top in guard.

Griffin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stone gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Stone postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Griffin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stone, into his guard.

Griffin content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Stone has locked up a guillotine! Stone's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Griffin is holding on here and Stone must be using up a lot of energy. Griffin has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Stone gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Vic Stone!
A relieved looking Vic Stone thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
