Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Theron Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henna Van Dyk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Theron Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Henna Van Dyk!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Velasquez gets caught napping as Van Dyk dives in and scores a takedown. Velasquez manages to retain guard.
Velasquez is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Velasquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Van Dyk wants to control from the top but Velasquez keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velasquez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Velasquez manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Velasquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Van Dyk gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Van Dyk wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Velasquez is now in half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Dyk can do anything to dispel that myth.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Van Dyk shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Velasquez napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Van Dyk closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Velasquez to the mat! Velasquez manages to get full guard.

Van Dyk wants to stand but Velasquez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velasquez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

That's time! Velasquez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Velasquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Henna Van Dyk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
