Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wesley Snyder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Moraes!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moraes tries to clinch but Snyder is having none of it.

Moraes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Snyder struggling a bit here.
Moraes throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Snyder tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Moraes looking to control but Snyder is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Snyder tries to reverse the position but Moraes maintains control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moraes wants to control the pace but Snyder is squirming around nicely.
Snyder holds on for dear life.

Snyder wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Moraes.
Snyder avoids a series of strikes thrown by Moraes.
Snyder is trying desperately to improve position.
Snyder tries to lock up and control but Moraes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Snyder is wriggling around trying to escape.
Moraes avoids the attempt from Snyder to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moraes misses with a head shot.

Moraes looking for a guillotine from mount but Snyder is having none of it.
Snyder sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Moraes with the ground and pound but Snyder uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Snyder can't keep his opponent in guard - Moraes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Moraes is looking to take a break and control but Snyder is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Snyder is trying to control but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Snyder holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Snyder pushes Moraes off looking to stand but Moraes dives back in and keeps control.
Snyder is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moraes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moraes's back!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Snyder is not going to allow Moraes to sit and survive in this position.

Snyder tightening his grip on Moraes, looking for the choke.

Snyder is persistently looking for the submission but Moraes is defending it well.
Snyder controlling the position well here. Moraes rolled but Snyder kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Ian Moraes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moraes looks winded!









Snyder could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.







Snyder seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Moraes for as long as he can get away with.



Snyder has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.










This is a sustained period of stalling by Snyder.










The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Moraes is still trying to improve position.


Moraes is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.






Snyder's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

























































Moraes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Snyder haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
