Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alfred Barker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alvar Hendrik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvar Hendrik has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alfred Barker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alvar Hendrik!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendrik fails with the takedown.
Barker throws a lazy head kick
and Hendrik connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Hendrik pushes Barker up against the cage in a clinch.
Barker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Barker wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hendrik has him pressed against the cage.
Hendrik's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Hendrik misses with a knee strike.
Barker wants to break the clinch but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hendrik breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Barker defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hendrik.
Barker is looking to counter the offense by Hendrik and move into the clinch.
Barker goes for a double leg but Hendrik avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hendrik continues to drive forward.
Hendrik is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Hendrik fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Barker checks it well.

Barker darts in and clinches Hendrik up against the cage.

Hendrik pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hendrik tries a head kick but it misses.
Hendrik circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hendrik stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hendrik wants it to stay on the feet.
Hendrik jabs Barker right on the nose. Barker blinks but takes it well.

Hendrik fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barker sprawls well initially but Hendrik persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Barker manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hendrik keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Barker has had enough of the clinch but Hendrik keeps him there for the moment.
Barker has Hendrik pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hendrik manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfred Barker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It looked like Barker was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Hendrik.

Hendrik shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hendrik looks to land a strike but Barker avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Hendrik prevents Barker from getting back to his feet.

Barker kicks Hendrik off and gets to his feet.
Hendrik is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hendrik darts in looking for a takedown but Barker gets double underhooks and turns Hendrik into the cage.
Hendrik shoots in but Barker avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Barker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Barker throws a strike aimed at the side of Hendrik's head but Hendrik avoids it well.

Barker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hendrik manages to get back to half guard.

Barker is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hendrik avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Barker.
Hendrik moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Barker is looking to work some ground and pound but Hendrik has wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alfred Barker will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hendrik changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barker tries to avoid it but Hendrik manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barker to the ground. Barker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Barker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hendrik shoots in but no luck this time.
Alvar Hendrik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hendrik looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Alfred Barker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alvar Hendrik.

Hendrik is looking to stand back up but Barker counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hendrik.

Barker winds up and cracks Hendrik with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Barker working over Hendrik with some ground and pound. Hendrik looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Barker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hendrik doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Barker.

Barker working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hendrik wants to control but Barker is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Barker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hendrik defends it well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hendrik is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Barker is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hendrik sees it coming and defends easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Barker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hendrik shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barker as he jumps to the side.

Hendrik feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Barker is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Hendrik presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Barker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
