Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Deait Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson closes the distance and clinches.
Shaw with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Johnson lands a takedown into guard.
Johnson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Johnson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Shaw is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shaw manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Shaw's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaw avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Johnson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Shaw can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Johnson controls the pace.

Johnson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shaw knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The strikes coming from Johnson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Johnson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

BOOM! Johnson connects with a massive shot to the dome!


It looks like Deait Shaw has been cut.
Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That has opened up Deait Shaw's cut even more.

Johnson is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Shaw has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Shaw!

Johnson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shaw is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Johnson.
Johnson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Johnson counters with an outside leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaw thows a left - swing and a miss!

Johnson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shaw tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johnson is in Shaw's guard.

Shaw manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Johnson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Shaw wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is dominant here and he's now got Shaw's back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaw covering up well and avoiding damage.
Johnson biding his time, looking for the opening.

Johnson is looking for the choke from the back position but Shaw is controlling his hands well.

Johnson has his arm under Shaw's chin here. Game over son! Johnson squeezes tightly and Shaw is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Thomas Johnson!
After winning the bout, Thomas Johnson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
