Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gilbert Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abe Eaton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gilbert Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abe Eaton!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eaton tries for a takedown but Day sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Day really is a fat lump.

Day rushes Eaton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Eaton tries to pull guard but Day won't allow it.
Eaton jumps guard but Day turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gilbert Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Abe Eaton.
Day jumps guard but Eaton turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Day stalling.

Eaton pulls guard successfully.
Eaton is trying to control the position but Day postures up.
Day wants to stand but Eaton is controlling his posture from full guard.
Eaton is controlling Day's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Eaton is looking to stand up but Day isn't so interested in that idea.

Eaton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Day defends well.
Eaton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Day's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Day is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Eaton stops Day from standing up.
Day tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Day utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Eaton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Day knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Eaton on the ground.
Eaton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Day is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Eaton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Day has his hands on Eaton's head, controlling the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Eaton is pushing down on Day's leg trying to pass to half guard. Day is fighting to maintain full guard but Eaton has managed to sneak the leg through.
Day is trying to stand back up but Eaton is controlling him

Eaton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Day's head.
Day wants to control but Eaton is keeping busy.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Day shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Eaton as he jumps to the side.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Eaton! But no joy.
Eaton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Day's waist but Day gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Eaton off to one side.

Eaton fails to land the takedown.
Day fails with a takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Eaton.

Eaton moves into the clinch.
Day misses with an elbow strike.

Eaton manages to pull guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Eaton looking for a sweep. Not yet Eaton, not yet.
Day throws a strike but Eaton rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Eaton is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abe Eaton dominated that round.
That's time! Day's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Eaton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Eaton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Day's guard.

Day manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Day manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Eaton avoiding damage as Day throws knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Day jumps guard and drags Eaton to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Eaton stops Day from standing up.
Eaton wanted to stand there but Day had control of the position.

Eaton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Eaton tries for a takedown but Day circles away easily

and Day counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Day.
Eaton is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Day is keeping busy.
Day content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Day goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Day tries to pull guard but Eaton won't allow it.

Eaton jumps guard and drags Day to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Day drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Eaton manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Day has Eaton in his guard.

Eaton not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Eaton trying to control the position from guard on top but Day is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Eaton might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Day haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Day manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Day gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Eaton manages to pull guard.
Eaton wants to sweep but no luck.
Day lands a couple of elbows.

Day drops back, looking for a kneebar! Eaton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Eaton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Eaton!

Eaton has control of an arm but Day manages to advance to Eaton's back!








Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!







































Day seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Eaton for as long as he can get away with.

Day is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Eaton is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
