Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brodie Darrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cale Downes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darrow stuffs the takedown attempt from Downes. Downes gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Darrow. No joy for Downes on that attempt.
Darrow buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Downes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Darrow fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Darrow leaves Downes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That kick from Darrow tenderised Downes's leg. Downes is trying to keep his angry face on.
Downes's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Downes is trying to maintain the position but Darrow is very close to passing his half guard.
Downes is looking for a sweep. Darrow is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Darrow is taking a breather. Downes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Downes shoots for a takedown but Darrow saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Darrow throws a counter high kick but Downes was just alert enough to avoid it.
Downes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Darrow can pounce on him.

I was talking to Darrow's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
