The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hopkins gets a takedown into half guard.
Finnigan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hopkins scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hopkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hopkins goes for a double leg but Finnigan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Finnigan continues to drive forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hopkins darts in looking for a takedown but Finnigan gets double underhooks and turns Hopkins into the cage.
It seemed like Finnigan was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Hopkins went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Finnigan lands a really nice looking cross but Hopkins seems unphased.

Finnigan let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Finnigan batters Hopkins with a massive right followed by a huge left! Hopkins is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Finnigan lands a final crushing right hand to drop Hopkins to the mat with a gruesome thud! Finnigan is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
