The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ryan is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Ryan has closed the distance and engaged James in a clinch.
James tries to circle away but Ryan has him pinned against the cage.

James throws an overhand right that lands on Ryan's shoulder, as Ryan tries to avoid the shot.
Demarcus James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryan looks to land a right hand but James moved out of range.
James throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ryan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ryan is looking to clinch but James is avoiding it.
As Ryan backs off James throws a huge counter combo but Ryan manages to avoid it all.
Ryan connects with a crisp jab.

James ducks under a wild hook from Ryan.
Ryan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
