PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Morbius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larith Shun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Larith Shun was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcus Morbius!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Larith Shun!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shun darts in looking for a takedown but Morbius gets double underhooks and turns Shun into the cage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shun enables Morbius to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shun manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Shun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Morbius is one step ahead there.
Shun bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Morbius's guard.

Shun keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Morbius's head.

Morbius looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Morbius is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shun wants to control from the top but Morbius keeps moving.
Shun is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Morbius is looking for a triangle but Shun pushes his legs off easily.

Shun controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Shun sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Morbius's guard.
Morbius is trying to get back to full guard.

Shun is trying to work for a kimura but Morbius is defending well.
Shun seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Morbius does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Shun has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Shun looking to control but Morbius is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Shun lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Shun is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Morbius is surviving well by controlling Shun's body position as best he can.
BOOM! Shun connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Shun tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morbius gets back to half guard.

Morbius is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Shun pulls his head out easily.

Morbius tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Shun works to advance to full mount. Morbius defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Morbius is looking to improve his position but Shun isn't that keen on the idea.

Shun pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Shun working for a guillotine from mount but Morbius is in no mood to give up.
Morbius is desperately trying to improve his position but Shun has a good base and remains in mount.
Morbius is squirming around, avoiding Shun's attempts to control the action.
Morbius keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larith Shun dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Shun tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Morbius swivels and escapes.

Shun closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Morbius did well to prevent Shun getting side control.

Shun has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shun postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Morbius badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Shun around the waist but Shun pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Shun is the winner by TKO! Shun jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Larith Shun!
Larith Shun got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
