The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ames closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hawk drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ames gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ames swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Ames breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Ames rushes Hawk and presses him up against the cage.
Hawk is looking for a takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hawk tries to circle away but Ames has him pinned against the cage.
Hawk blocks an elbow strike from Ames.
Ames misses with a short punch on the inside.
Ames tries to throw a body punch but Hawk avoids it by throwing Ames back against the cage.

Ames throws a knee to the head but misses.
Hawk can't break the clinch.
Ames gets underhooks to prevent Hawk's takedown attempt.
Ed Ames has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Black Hawk.

Ames escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hawk avoids the body shot from Ames.
Hawk drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ames defends it well.
Ames swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ames looks to score with a jab to the body but Hawk is just out of range.
Ames tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hawk tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Ames moves in looking to clinch but Hawk pushes him off.
Hawk defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ames.
Ames tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hawk was well out of range. Poor timing from Ames.
Ames misses the body punch

and Hawk counters with a single leg into guard. Ames didn't expect that.
Hawk wants to control from the top but Ames keeps moving.
Ames wants to sweep here but Hawk controlling him for the moment.
Hawk missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Hawk won't allow Ames to sweep him here.

Ames is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ames ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hawk moves away.
Hawk with the counter takedown but Ames avoids it easily.
A swing and a miss from Ames.
Hawk drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ames defends it well.

Ames shoots in and bounces Hawk off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hawk looking for a triangle here. Ames is fighting it but it looks tight! Hawk pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ames is tapping out - this one is all over!
