Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lawrence Wun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitchell comes to the cage accompanied by Baha Men - Island Boy. Wun is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Wonderboy. Tom Mitchell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tom Mitchell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lawrence Wun!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mitchell shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mitchell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wun defends it well.

Wun is looking for a sweep. Mitchell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Mitchell is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wun doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mitchell.

Wun can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mitchell controls the pace.

Mitchell slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mitchell is pushing down on Wun's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wun is fighting to maintain full guard but Mitchell has managed to sneak the leg through.

Mitchell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wun defends it well.

Wun is trying to maintain the position but Mitchell is very close to passing his half guard.

Mitchell looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wun enables Mitchell to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wun manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mitchell sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wun's guard.

Mitchell seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wun for as long as he can get away with.

Mitchell is looking for a kimura but Wun is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mitchell to get the leverage.

Well, if Mitchell is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Wun is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Wun misses with a few strikes there.
Mitchell takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wun moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Wun throws a nice outside leg kick.
Mitchell throws a hook to the side of Wun's head but Wun sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Wun was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Mitchell throws an overhand right that lands on Wun's shoulder, as Wun tries to avoid the shot.

Mitchell looking to score a takedown here. Wun is defending well but Mitchell drives through and ends up in Wun's guard.

Mitchell is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wun is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wun has escaped and now he's on top!

Mitchell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wun's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Wun throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wun has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Wun gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wun is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mitchell pulls his head out easily.

Mitchell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Wun is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mitchell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
