The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizzo throws a jab but it's blocked by Ritchie.
Rizzo shoots in for a takedown but Ritchie shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rizzo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Rizzo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Ritchie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rizzo is working away from the top position though.
Rizzo thows a huge punch but Ritchie dodges it nicely.
Ritchie is trying to maintain the position but Rizzo is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rizzo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ritchie is looking to escape.
Well, if Rizzo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Rizzo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Rizzo has cracked Ritchie with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Rizzo lands another huge swinging hook and Ritchie tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Ritchie, before Rizzo can land any more shots!

After winning the bout, Frank Rizzo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
