Brooks has chosen The Memory Remains as his entrance music. Phillip Brooks is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Phillip Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brooks looking to score a takedown here. Hurley is defending well but Brooks drives through and ends up in Hurley's guard.
Hurley wants to get back to his feet but Brooks is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hurley keeping moving, preventing Brooks from controlling successfully.
Hurley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooks engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Hurley is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Brooks wants to control from the top but Hurley keeps moving.

Brooks shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Brooks was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hurley tries to improve position but can't.
Hurley is letting Brooks control him for a moment.
Hurley can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brooks tries to move into full mount but can't pass Hurley's legs.

Brooks decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hurley to his feet.

Hurley gets caught flat footed, as Brooks shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hurley pulls Brooks in close to prevent any damage.
Brooks loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Brooks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hurley is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Hurley controls Brooks momentarily but Brooks frees himself.

Brooks tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hurley is trying to escape the position but Brooks is controlling the position.

Brooks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Brooks closes the distance and clinches.

Brooks decides to pull guard.
Hurley distracts Brooks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Brooks looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hurley is one step ahead there.
Hurley with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hurley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hurley throwing strikes from guard but Brooks blocks nicely.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Brooks holds on and takes a little breather.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brooks can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hurley stands and steps away. Brooks gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Brooks gets a clinch.
Hurley looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Brooks jumps guard.
Hurley postures up in Brooks's guard and throws a big left but Brooks blocks it.
Brooks wants to sweep here but Hurley controlling him for the moment.

Hurley stands up from Brooks's guard - Hurley perhaps looking for a knockout.

Brooks throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hurley was covering up waiting for the punch and Brooks finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phillip Brooks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Brooks has his foot on Hurley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hurley works his way back into a safe position though.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hurley's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Brooks wants to sweep here but Hurley controlling him for the moment.
Hurley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Hurley avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hurley is looking to work some ground and pound but Brooks has wrist control.
Hurley cracks Brooks with a solid left hand.

Brooks is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Hurley rolls with it to try and escape but Brooks cranks on the arm and Hurley is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Phillip Brooks!
