Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mongo Hansen!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hansen moves into range and clinches up with Johnson.
Johnson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Johnson prevents a takedown attempt there.

Hansen has picked Johnson up - he's going for a ride! Hansen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Hansen prevents Johnson from improving his position.
Johnson wants to control but Hansen is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson is defending against the submission attempts here by Hansen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hansen connects with a nice short shot to Johnson's temple.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hansen is thwarting Johnson's attempts to control the position.
Johnson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Well, if Hansen is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Johnson tries to get to full guard but Hansen has control of the leg.
Hansen wants to free his trapped foot but Johnson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hansen sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Hansen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Johnson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hansen looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hansen not doing much here.
Hansen has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The referee warns Johnson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Johnson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Johnson is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Johnson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Hansen locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Johnson is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mongo Hansen!
John Johnson was interviewed post fight and said 'All I can do is train harder and hope the next fight goes my way'.
