Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ury Dikunov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khalil Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khalil Romero will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ury Dikunov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Khalil Romero!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Romero smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Ury Dikunov has been cut.

Dikunov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Romero wants to stand back up but Dikunov manages to pass into side control.
Romero is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Romero tries to escape but Dikunov is in control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Romero is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

We've been hearing that Dikunov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Romero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dikunov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Romero tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Dikunov lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Romero down.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Romero can do anything to dispel that myth.

Romero is rocked!
Romero tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dikunov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Romero is still in real trouble! Can Dikunov finish him?
Dikunov is chipping away with strikes.
Dikunov happy to just control the position for now.

Dikunov lands a strong strike to the head of Romero. That's dazed him! Dikunov looking to finish here. Romero is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Dikunov lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ury Dikunov!
A very excited looking Ury Dikunov rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
