The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferdinand connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wilkins's hands.
Ferdinand looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Wilkins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wilkins throws a head kick that misses.

and Wilkins decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ferdinand's guard.
Wilkins is standing up over Ferdinand. Ferdinand looks to escape but Wilkins dives into side control.

Wilkins tries for a kimura but Ferdinand is defending well.

Wilkins goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ferdinand has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Wilkins but great work by Ferdinand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Ferdinand wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wilkins, who protects the arm well.

Wilkins tries to improve position but can't.
Wilkins is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ferdinand off and has taken his back!

Wilkins really is a fat lump.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ferdinand has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Wilkins seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ferdinand for as long as he can get away with.

Wilkins's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
