PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Duff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Fredriksen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fredriksen has chosen Indestructible by Rancid as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tony Duff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tim Fredriksen!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fredriksen's corner calls for a 1-2. Fredriksen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Duff stuffs the takedown attempt from Fredriksen. Fredriksen gets slowly back to his feet.
Fredriksen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Duff takes a swing at Fredriksen's ribcage but misses.
Fredriksen shoots in and drives through. Duff sprawls well.
Tony Duff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Fredriksen.
Fredriksen slips a jab from Duff.
Fredriksen moves to clinch but Duff breaks away

and Duff decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fredriksen's guard.
Duff stays in close to Fredriksen's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duff wants to control from the top but Fredriksen keeps moving.
Fredriksen is trying to hold Duff in close to prevent damage but Duff has managed to pass into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fredriksen is refusing to be controlled, as Duff sits in half guard.

Duff is working for a kimura but Fredriksen is defending it quite comfortably.
Fredriksen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Fredriksen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Fredriksen wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Duff takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Fredriksen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Duff.
Duff throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Duff sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Duff is looking to take a break and control but Fredriksen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Duff is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Fredriksen still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Fredriksen has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Duff manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Duff trying to hold on to Fredriksen's head to control him but Fredriksen postures up.
Fredriksen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Duff's head.
Duff is looking to improve his position.
Duff trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duff is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fredriksen pulls his head out easily.

Duff looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duff moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Duff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fredriksen is one step ahead there.
Fredriksen looking to sit in guard and control but Duff gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Fredriksen keeping moving, preventing Duff from controlling successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fredriksen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Duff is controlling him.
Fredriksen is trying to control the position but Duff postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Duff dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Fredriksen throws a body kick that misses.
Duff looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Fredriksen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Fredriksen tries to clinch but Duff is having none of it.
Fredriksen misses with a double jab.

Fredriksen darts in and clinches Duff up against the cage.
Fredriksen fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Duff prevents a takedown attempt there.
Fredriksen can't find room to land a body shot as Duff controls the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duff blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Fredriksen has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Duff is trying to keep an underhook but Fredriksen manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Duff makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Duff.
Duff is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Duff is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Fredriksen frees his head nicely. Oh but Duff has switched to an armbar! Fredriksen is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Tony Duff!
Tony Duff seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
