PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Avila Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez comes to the cage accompanied by Barbarian by The Darkness. McGee comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Tref - Pasopvoordetrap kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Avila Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave McGee!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
McGee wants to pass the guard but Alvarez is keeping the position.

McGee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alvarez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McGee has managed to get both his arms back between Alvarez's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McGee stands up and waves to Alvarez to follow him.

Alvarez's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Dave McGee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McGee fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Alvarez, pushing him back against the cage.

McGee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

McGee has closed the distance and engaged Alvarez in a clinch.
McGee is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Alvarez is breathing heavily.
McGee unloads a knee to the mid-section.

McGee has Alvarez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. McGee pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Alvarez tumbling to the mat - McGee dives into Alvarez's guard.

McGee is trying to trip Alvarez. He has hold of a leg but Alvarez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. McGee persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
McGee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
It looks like McGee might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well McGee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Dave McGee decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
In defeat, Avila Alvarez stepped up to the mic, saying 'Aw shucks. I stinkeroo. '.
