The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rockwell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ranyy pinned against the cage. Ranyy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
It looked like Ranyy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Rockwell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Rockwell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rockwell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Ranyy controls Rockwell momentarily but Rockwell frees himself.
Rockwell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ranyy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ranyy is really struggling to control Rockwell but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Rockwell controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rockwell wants to control from the top but Ranyy keeps moving.

Rockwell drops back looking for a leg! Ranyy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ranyy manages to kick Rockwell off! Rockwell jumps back into Ranyy's guard.

Rockwell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rockwell tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Ranyy is looking for a sweep.

Rockwell is trying to get an arm triangle but Ranyy is defending well.

Rockwell has hold of Ranyy's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Ranyy tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rockwell cranks the arm and Ranyy screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Ranyy, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
