The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Von Erich connects with a body shot that sends Newton's belly button to the back.
Newton misses with an uppercut. Von Erich saw that one coming.
A nice side step and Von Erich releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Von Erich throws a hook but Newton avoids it easily.
Von Erich ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Newton definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Von Erich fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Newton manages to avoid it.
Von Erich misses with an uppercut
and Newton counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like David Von Erich has been cut.
Von Erich swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Newton.
Von Erich uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Newton.
Von Erich throws a sloppy body shot
and Newton counters with a straight right hand.
David Von Erich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Von Erich lands a nice looking body shot.
The fighters circling - Von Erich throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Newton misses with a wild body shot.
Newton is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Von Erich.
Von Erich has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Newton is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Newton counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Von Erich scores with a sloppy right hand. Newton should have avoided that one.
Von Erich looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Newton's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Von Erich connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Newton scrambles back to his feet.

and Newton counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Von Erich's jab looks to have found its range, popping Newton under the eye.
Newton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Von Erich throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Von Erich gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Newton gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eddie Newton!
A relieved looking Eddie Newton thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
