PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clayton Channings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Madison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clayton Channings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Madison!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madison misses with a hook. Channings ducked under it nicely.
Channings tries to close the distance and clinch up but Madison swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Channings bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Madison's head.

Channings shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Madison manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Channings trying to control the position from guard on top but Madison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Madison is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Channings has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Channings looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Madison with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

It seemed like Madison was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Madison takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Channings has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Madison after a bit of a struggle.
Madison has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Madison is pressed up against the ropes. Channings has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Madison down to the mat. Madison avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Madison bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Channings's guard.


Channings has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Madison can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Channings working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Madison doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Madison manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Madison sneaks out the side door and pushes Channings away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Channings is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

A nice side step and Madison releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Channings fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Channings shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Madison defends it nicely.
Channings connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Madison scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Channings fails with the takedown
and Madison counters with a left to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Greg Madison comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Madison has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
