Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Steamboat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guido Gloom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steamboat comes to the cage accompanied by Lorde - Tennis Court. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Guido Gloom enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Steamboat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Guido Gloom!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steamboat rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gloom moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Steamboat shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gloom looking to hit a scissor sweep but Steamboat is one step ahead there.
Gloom bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Steamboat's guard.

Steamboat might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gloom sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Steamboat's guard.

Gloom is looking to advance position but Steamboat won't allow it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gloom has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Gloom is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Steamboat has managed to free his arm - good work.

Steamboat looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gloom has picked Steamboat up and slammed him! Steamboat can't keep hold of the triangle and Gloom manages to pass to side control!

Gloom is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Steamboat is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Steamboat is trying to work for a sweep but Gloom has mounted him!

Gloom looking to break Steamboat's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Steamboat remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gloom will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Well, with Gloom on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Steamboat is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Gloom is looking for the choke from the back position but Steamboat is controlling his hands well.
Gloom lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Gloom tries to get the hooks in deep but Steamboat pushed the leg off.

Gloom looking to break Steamboat's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Steamboat remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gloom will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
You can see the frustration on Steamboat's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Gloom doesn't have the hooks in and Steamboat manages to turn into his guard.

We've been hearing that Steamboat has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Steamboat is working Gloom over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Steamboat won't allow Gloom to sweep him here.

Steamboat postures up in Gloom's guard and throws a big left but Gloom blocks it.

Steamboat got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gloom has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Steamboat has managed to get both his arms back between Gloom's legs - danger averted.

Steamboat tries to free his leg and advance position but Gloom is retaining full guard.

Gloom looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steamboat keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gloom's head.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gloom is on top in guard.

Gloom not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Steamboat working for a triangle but Gloom defends it easily.

Gloom drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gloom jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Steamboat escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gloom gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gloom slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Guido Gloom dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Steamboat closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gloom to the mat! Gloom manages to get full guard.
Gloom is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gloom had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Steamboat defends it easily.

Gloom has his foot on Steamboat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Steamboat works his way back into a safe position though.

Gloom frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Steamboat is bucking up trying to escape but Gloom cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steamboat has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Gloom has managed to slip his arm under Steamboat's chin. This could be all over... yep, Steamboat is tapping out! Submission win for Gloom.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Guido Gloom!
After winning the bout, Guido Gloom thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Ricky Steamboat spoke after the fight, saying 'Good win to for my opponent will be back'.
