The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramon blocks the body kick.
Zambrana pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ramon appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Zambrana throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Zambrana lands a big head kick that sends Ramon tumbling to the mat! Zambrana takes a step backwards and waves Ramon back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Pierre Ramon has been cut.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Zambrana has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

and Ramon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zambrana's guard.
Ramon is looking to pass into half guard but Zambrana pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Zambrana is in guard.
