PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bernie Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uriel Ferdinand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bernie Shepard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Uriel Ferdinand!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferdinand tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shepard paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Uriel Ferdinand seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ferdinand looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Shepard throws a head kick but Ferdinand moves out of range.

Ferdinand shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shepard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shepard in particular looking to stall.

A head kick by Ferdinand misses

Shepard is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ferdinand knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Check out the look on Shepard's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Shepard looks up at the clock and then as Ferdinand takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shepard smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Shepard cracks Ferdinand with a big right hand but Ferdinand just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Ferdinand has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shepard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
