The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ling misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ling dives in and grabs Rockwell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rockwell pushes down on Ling's head and hops out.
Rockwell is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ling.

Rockwell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ling, who protects the arm well.
Ling stops Rockwell from passing to mount.

Rockwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ling gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ling avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rockwell is looking for a triangle but Ling pushes his legs off easily.

Rockwell trying to control the position from guard on top but Ling is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rockwell not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Rockwell has gone for a leg lock! Ling slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rockwell's guard.

Rockwell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ling can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rockwell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ling doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ling manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rockwell has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ling is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rockwell.

Rockwell is looking to cinch up a triangle. Ling throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rockwell's body to avoid the submission. Rockwell has instead reached around Ling's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rockwell arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
