Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dom Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Reealopubo!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Cruz. Beautiful body shot.
Good exchange - Cruz coming out on top.
Reealopubo closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Cruz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A chopping leg kick lands by Cruz.

Cruz clinches up against the cage.

Cruz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cruz lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Reealopubo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cruz connects with a looping right hand.

Reealopubo gets caught flat footed, as Cruz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cruz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cruz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Reealopubo's head.
Cruz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cruz works over Reealopubo with some ground and pound from guard.
Cruz won't allow Reealopubo to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reealopubo wants to stand but Cruz is controlling the position.

Cruz stands up over Reealopubo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Cruz throws a big elbow that misses.
Cruz postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Cruz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cruz distracts Reealopubo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Cruz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Reealopubo has momentary wrist control but Cruz slips an elbow through the middle.

Cruz postures up in Reealopubo's guard and throws a big left but Reealopubo blocks it.
Cruz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Cruz chips away with some ground and pound.
Reealopubo has momentary wrist control but Cruz slips an elbow through the middle.
Cruz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cruz lands a couple of digs.
Reealopubo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cruz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Reealopubo is rocked!
Cruz lands a couple of elbows.
Reealopubo is still in real trouble! Can Cruz finish him?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cruz stands and throws Reealopubo's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Reealopubo looks winded!

A lull in the action here as Cruz stalls from top position.
Reealopubo seems to have recovered his senses.
Cruz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cruz tries for a kimura but Reealopubo is defending well.
Reealopubo takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Cruz lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Cruz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cruz is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Reealopubo looks calm but he's in trouble here. Cruz gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Reealopubo is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Cruz lets go of the hold and Reealopubo can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dom Cruz!
Dom Cruz seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
