Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joao Sousa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joao Sousa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Henry!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry lands a jab.
Sousa has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Sousa tries to land a leg kick but Henry saw it coming and moves away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sousa misses with a punch to the body.
Henry trying to stall but Sousa improves his position.
Sousa blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Henry has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sousa avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Henry is trying to break the clinch but Sousa is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sousa gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Henry regains guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Henry working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Henry in particular looking to stall.

Sousa does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Henry swats away the attempt to clinch by Sousa.
Henry throws out a counter right but Sousa avoids it with no problem.

Henry catches Sousa with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!


It looks like Joao Sousa has been cut.
Sousa lands the left hand.

Henry throws a hook but Sousa avoids it easily.

Henry throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sousa tries to counter with a takedown but Henry is quick to defend against it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Henry got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sousa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Henry has managed to get both his arms back between Sousa's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sousa is staying active underneath Henry, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The fighters circle momentarily. Henry darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

I've got Henry winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
